Dutch A1-1 is the first level of standard Dutch language courses offered at Dutch First and is designed for those who have not had contact with the Dutch language. Course participants develop a basic knowledge of the Dutch language and community. They will learn to express themselves in the present tense.
Our standard courses have lessons two times a week for five weeks with a total of 10 sessions. Each session consists of 3 lesson hours (each of 45 minutes) with a total of 30 lesson hours.
The course focuses on Chapters 1 to 3 of the book "Contact! 1". Participants of this course begin studies at level A1 based on language levels as described in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
Telling about yourself, presentation and greetings, meeting people, talking about work or study, countries and languages, asking basic questions, talking about activities, days of the week, months and seasons, telling the time, grocery shopping, order in a restaurant.
Personal pronoun, simple present tense, hebben en zijn, sentence structure, alphabet, numbers, article, modal auxiliary verbs moeten, mogen, willen, kunnen, zullen en gaan, adjective, comparative/superlative, nouns: single/plural.
After completion of the course:
After completing the course, participants will be able to greet people and have very basic conversations involving everyday activities such as buying groceries. They will be able to tell time, count, and ask basic questions using simple sentences.
