Fully personalized Dutch lessons

Private lessons are tailor-made to suit your needs. They can be online, face to face in one of our classrooms, or a combination of both. You can choose to work with the books, the e-learning module, both, or neither. You can follow along with our course plan or decide to focus on the skill or topic that is most relevant to you, for example pronunciation, casual conversation, grammar, medical terminology or exam preparation. You are encouraged to set your own goals. Whether it is to pass a certain exam, speak Dutch with your in-laws, hang out with your Dutch friend on the weekend, or understand the news on TV, our teachers are happy to create individual lessons just for you. The program is offered at all levels, from beginner to advanced.

Course schedule and participants

The course schedule is flexible and scheduled to meet your needs. Individual courses can be arranged for a single participant or if you prefer, for small groups of up to three participants. Lessons may be planned when you like as long as a teacher (and classroom) is available. Lesson hours of 50 minutes are used for individual lessons. You may choose to do one or two lesson hours per lesson.

1 participant

Your needs and objectives will be analysed to see whether individual lessons are the right fit for you. In most cases, a placement test is first conducted to see what your current level and knowledge of the Dutch language is unless you are a complete beginner. Then, we will create a personalised program for you adapted to your requirements and schedule. The course may also be conducted with specified content and vocabulary that one wishes to learn, such as literature, business or other subjects. The participant may first purchase one session separately to try out the teaching style. After this first session a purchase of minimum 5 lesson hours for a certain period is required (for example 5 lesson hours within 2 months or 10 lesson hours within 3 months).

2 – 3 participants

This course is ideal for friends, colleagues or a family who wish to study Dutch together. In this small private group course the lessons are adapted to the requirements of the participants. The course concentrates on your interests and is taught at a speed suitable for your group. All participants need to be at the same language level, proof of current Dutch proficiency in the form of past Dutch course certificates or results of a placement test are required. The participants are allowed to first purchase one session separately to try out our teaching style. After this first lesson a purchase of minimum 5 lesson hours for a certain period is required (for example 10 lesson hours within 3 months or 20 lesson hours within 6 months).

Classroom-based courses

We offer classroom-based individual courses at our Dutch school premises in Utrecht. You will have face-to-face contact with our qualified Dutch teachers who will coach you through the material of your choice. Our recommended material we use for all our classroom-based lessons is Contact! Nieuw (1, 2 and 3 for A1, A2 and B1 levels respectively) and Contact! (3, for the B2 level) books by Intertaal. You may use other course materials in accordance with your preference and our teacher’s advice.

Online courses

We also offer individual lessons online, with lessons held in a virtual classroom via Zoom. Books are not mandatory, as you can choose to make use of our E-learning methods instead. Prices:

           
The first lesson hour may be purchased separately to try out our teaching style. After the first lesson, you can purchase lessons in packages per 5 hours.
Discounts are offered for lesson packages as follows:
                        – For 10 or more lessons, a 5% discount on the course fee is applied.
                        – For 20 or more lessons, a 10% discount on the course fee is applied.
                        – For 30 or more lessons, a 15% discount on the course fee is applied.
Applicants have to use their individual lessons within a set period of time after the start date (first lesson) of the purchased package. Validity of individual lessons is calculated based on the package you purchase:

• 5 purchased lesson hours have to be used within 2 months from the start date of the first lesson.
• 10 purchased lesson hours have to be used within 3 months from the start date of the first lesson.
• 20 purchased lesson hours have to be used within 6 months from the start date of the first lesson.
• For other amounts, above-mentioned validness periods accumulate (e.g. 25 purchased lesson hours are valid for 8 months, 40 purchased lesson hours for one year).
