Dutch Language School in Utrecht


Dutch A1-1 is the first level of Intensive Dutch language courses offered at Dutch First and is designed for those who have not had contact with the Dutch language. Course participants develop a basic knowledge of the Dutch language and community. They will learn to express themselves in the present tense. Lessons in the evenings from Monday to Friday from 17:00.
 
This is our intensive course, but in the evenings instead of during the day. You will get 30 lesson hours in 10 days (3 x 45 min. per day) and for an extra boost, you will need to invest in self-study. This course is perfect for those who want to learn intensively, but have other obligations during the mornings and afternoons!
The course includes individual and group work, discussions, listening exercises and homework. The course focuses on Chapters 1 to 3 of the book "Contact! 1". Participants of this course begin studies at level A1 based on language levels as described in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
 

Course subjects:
Telling about yourself, presentation and greetings, meeting people, talking about work or study, countries and languages, asking basic questions, talking about activities, daily routines, grocery shopping.


Course grammar:
Personal pronoun, simple present tense, hebben en zijn, sentence structure, alphabet, numbers, article, modal auxiliary verbs moeten, mogen, willen, kunnen, zullen en gaan, adjective, comparative/superlative, nouns: single/plural.
 

After completion of the course:
After completing the course, participants will be able to greet people and have very basic conversations involving everyday activities such as buying groceries. They will be able to tell time, count, and ask basic questions using simple sentences.
